ECONOMY NOT OBSERVED IN NATIONAL ACCOUNTS

In 2021, the value of the unobserved economy reached €192 billion.

The shadow economy stands at just under €174 billion, while illegal activities exceed €18 billion. Compared to 2020, the value of the unobserved economy grew by €17.4 billion, but its incidence on GDP remained unchanged (10.5%).

There are 2,990,000 irregular work units, an increase of about 73,000 compared to 2020.
